Goodbye 1st trimester!

•November 15, 2009 • 6 Comments

Finally..after 5 1/2 months of marriage, I finally have a Sunday to myself. Those who know my routine is clearly aware that Sunday afternoons are always at my in-laws every, single week so finally having some time away just for myself and for us at our messy crib here is certainly a bliss. I guess that’s why my blogging mood is back after a long hiatus. I just can’t seem to find any ideas to blog, because honestly speaking once you get pregnant single ladies out there, your mood swings is unpredictable that you yourself don’t know how to cope especially when you feel down, mmg tahap ke lubang cacing punya down. Thank you Edward for understanding that your Bella sometimes have to tolerate reading her best fren’s luahan hati yg depress over Gtalk during office hours when you guys are busy preparing for your wedding.  :)

Yesterday was a good day for me. It was my 3rd monthly check up with the gynae, and this time round I had to amik darah..(Cik Dizzyfly : 3 tubes of blood ye heheh..please be prepared!) I was already tired from blood test sebenarnya coz for the last few weeks I’ve been in and out of the clinic for my company’s medical check up. Nama pun keje dgn W*H*O, health freaks like them wants all employee to take a medical check up every 2 years. Tapi yang ngoknya, the first doctor that I went to tak reti amik darah. U know my arms kene poke 6 freaking times utk amik just 1 tube of darah..3 times on my left arm, 3 times on my right..pastu memandai ckp urat aku kecik. Choyy. Akhirnya lebam seminggu. Masa lebam baru nak reda, dpt call balik dari clinic tu, they said my wonderful company has a new regulation that they want ppl to take another blood test for Hepatitis A plak..so another round of poking! Luckily I got a lady doctor dis time round who knows how to take blood, skali amik setel. Skali tup2, monthly check up dgn gynae plak..mmg la skali poke je tp dok amik sampai 3 tube sampai my arm once again is bruised mcm penagih dadah. Dah bosan tgk syringe and blood I just laid my head on the table while the nurse did her job. Tetibe plak dia concern tanya “rasa pitam ke puan?” huhu..I said, “tade la..penat”. SANGAT.

Anyways back to the check up, weighing time is always the dreaded part for me coz I know my weight range now is between 49-50kg. 1st check up – 50.6kg, 2nd check up – 49.8kg, 3rd check up – 50.2kg. Kali ni the nurse tak tgk the scale when I weighed, she just waited at the counter..so I cheated a bit when she asked what my weight was. Dgn muka confident I said “50kg” and she said “tade point ye puan? 0.1 ke 0.2 ke?”. While maintaining a straight face, I shook my head. Huhu..menci aaa tgk weighing scale..rindu itu 46kg.

During the ultrasound, it was such a momentous time for both my husband and I. For the first time, we could see the baby now having its own features. Dah ada kepala, ada back bone, ada cute lil arms and legs and the baby was in a membongkok position. Ingatkan the baby would be static. Rupenye our lil one was very active that morning..cutee sgtt coz dlm keadaan membongkok tu dia sebenarnya mcm tgh dlm position ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO! position except d baby is not running la of coz. DUH. Suddenly we saw our lil one’s legs rise high up kicking its way in mid air..pastu dia membongkok balik..and the lil one did d same thing again..and again hehe geli hati tgk..like a floating lil astronaut having a fun time on its own. Gynae pun ckp “aktif ye dia pagi ni..bagus, a good sign”

Because of that, the gynae said this time round it is much clearer to estimate the due date and instead of being at 11 weeks, I’m already approaching 14 weeks. Dah masuk 2nd trimester pun..alhamdulillah :) and babai to my wedding date, the new revised due date now is 19th MAY 2010. (makin dekat dgn Reena & Amoi’s birthday je ni..hehe jgn anak aku degil mcm korang udah ahaks..!)

I was happy too on that day coz finally I get to see a movie after suchhhh a long wait to see one, slama ni asal reserve tickets je mesti ada some upcoming plans that the movie has to be postponed. This time round, I don’t care I paid online..no more excuse dah from hubby..kene layan jugak movie ni no matter what dah byr dgn credit card ni! We watched 2012..mmg cite ni best if you’re the type who likes movies such as “The Day After Tomorrow “, “Armageddon”. The 2 hours is packed solid with action and very much realistic that kita bole sedikit sebanyak terbayang how Hari Kiamat will be like..bole insaf kejap la hehe. Of coz there are parts yg mcm tak masuk akal sket, but it’s worth the watch :)

And…also I decided to get creative again like the good old days like what a good old fren said to me a few days back. I decided to do my lil scrapbooking project of my own..tade la gempaq mana pon, beli sketch book, some stickers and ribbons and felt tip pens and start doodling over it huhu. My lil project for my lil one..dari tade pape nak buat kan? dah ada 3 gambar scan lil one..baik kita compile buat scrap book..nanti bila dia dah besar sket bleh tunjuk kat dia :) Daddy pun dah sumbangkan a few words in the scrap book dgn tulisan comot dia tu huhu asal bole lerr…

What food defines you?

•November 4, 2009 • 11 Comments

If you’re talking about food, those close to me will know that I’m quite a fussy eater. I’m not an adventurous eater and I do not have the same taste buds like most Malays who likes to eat different varieties of food. Blame it on the genes, I inherit this from my dad since 90% of his traits all fall to me, unfortunately.

He only eats bihun. Same goes to me.

He doesn’t eat kuey teow (hailam ke ladna ke char kuey teow ke) and mee (mee goreng mamak ke, mee kari ke, mee jawa ke, mee bandung ke). Same goes to me.

But oh..he eats mee rojak. Penangan dok Penang lama sangat kut haha. That I don’t follow, I still don’t eat the mee, rojak bole la but not the mee.

He doesn’t eat laksa. Tang ni he has a geng. Hubby also doesn’t eat laksa. I hardly eat laksa, depending on my mood but usually when I eat..it will never finish, mesti mcm 3/4 je, tak reti nak ratah smp kering kuahnya.

He is a nasi eater. Same goes to me. I have to have my nasi. So, it’s really hard for me to find an alternative if I dun have the mood for rice. Mau makan apaa??

He doesn’t eat spaghetti. I do! heheh..Maggi mee of coz la everyone in Malaysia eats!

My relatives dah immune sangat dgn perangai kami anak beranak, so whenever they do open houses or makan² kat kampung ke kat umah makcik pakcik ke, there will be something for the minority to eat hehe..nak buat camne..mmg tekak xleh terima. So, kamu semua kalo nak buat makan² and nak jemput gue, ingat² la selera  gue camne ye huhu.

But, being a simple eater like me..I have quite a number of signature food which for sure ppl will remember me. “Tengok makanan ni, mesti teringatkan Mieza” cam gitu la taglinenya.

Snek Ku Keropok Bantal!

Haha. This is my favourite, favourite snack dari zaman kekanak riang gembira sampai la nak jadi mak budak ni haa. My mum will always remember me whenever she sees this at any store. She will chuckle to herself if she sees the stock of Snek Ku kat umah Shah Alam ni, mesti dia ckp “ko ni dari kecik sampai skang..tak jemu² dgn mende ni la” hik2 mmg pon.

Pisang!

Yup, yup. Ni for sure ramai yang mengangguk kepala. I lurrrrveeeeeeeeee everything about pisang. Kerepek pisang, kek pisang, cokodok pisang, goreng pisang..ape lagi eh pasal pisang? haa sume la pasal pisang I like hehe. I dunno why but there’s always a rush of adrenaline whenever I see anything to do with banana. Everyday at my office, there will be supplies of fruits coming in. Each day different fruit la of coz. Aku ni dok ternanti-nanti laa bila pisang nak landing kat pantry tu. Bila dah ada..wheee, walaupun ada signage beso² tulis PLEASE TAKE ONE ONLY, aku dulik pe. I always take 3 for myself haha. Sangat rakus.

Yang bes nya, umpan plg senang nak make me berselera and my eyes gleaming wide open is for any of you to make me cokodok/ goreng pisang hehe. Ada skali tu raya tahun ni la, I was raya-ing with hubby and my in-laws..my parents remained at my house in Shah Alam..my mum siap smsed me “ni bpk ada buat cokodok pisang ni..tanak balik ke?” hehe. Kalo gue perasan sms tu, dah lama suruh hubby balik cepat, tp malangnya tak perasan. Bila balik umah kul 11pm dgn muka mamai, leteh, comot sume cukup tp bila nampak makanan tu atas meja terus mcm eeeeeeeee cokodok pisang! tak mandi tak ape terus ngaaappppppp cokodok tu dgn hati penuh riang gembira haha. Mcm budak kecik!

Ni pon lagi satu..dari kecik sampai ke besar tak berubah selera. Dulu masa sekolah rendah slalue buat air Ribena as bekal air, dah bebeso ni pon kalo haus tetengah jalan singgah Petronas, mesti Ribena jugak yg dicapai walaupun ada banyak lagi air available. Dah pregnant ni lagi la, kalo tekak tgh kembang semcm tu, slalue carik Ribena. :)

Actually ada lagi byk…but these top 3 foods mmg define me the most coz dari kecik sampai besar mmg tak pernah jemu dgn makanan/minuman ni hehe.

How about you?

Expect the unexpected

Initially our plan on Saturday was to go to IKEA to buy pendant lamp, survey ceiling fan (ni bukan IKEA la), pastu to go to Amcorp Mall coz I really wanna go to the recommended bookstore by a fren of mine after she read my last entry.

Hubby has an idea to revamp our dining area like the pic above..instead of the lampu kalimantan eh org panggey, ala lampu panjang straight kaler putih tuu, he wanted to have a change..nak letak pendant lamp camni but when we arrived at IKEA, it seems that these lamps can only cater up to 75W max. Kalo 75W, jawapnya mcm makan candlelight dinner je huhu. I bet my parents would not be too keen as well, tau² je la old folks prefer things to be bright. But then, setelah berpusing² carik light bulb and design yang paling sesuai, we had to settle for the pic below. Carik kaler putih jugak la yg reasonable sket, kenot fancy² nanti golap dibuatnya.

I on the other hand, is not into something fancy. I just want something to spice up the living room. Lagi pon byk frame gambar yg kitorang dpt masa wedding is still empty, not filled up with pictures. D ones that require drilling, tak drill² lagi coz hubby tak confident nak drill sendiri..pastu I’ve always wanted a shelf mcm gambar bwh ni to be put at the living room, bole letak frame gambar, bleh letak any souveniers ke kan..

Kat IKEA d famous one is LACK shelf, but we bought a different shelf in white as well. Tu pun requires drilling gak..aih beli itu beli ini, ntah bila nak gerak pon tatau. Wiring man will come dis week to pasang the lampu..at least that’s something. Frame gambar? wallahualam huhu.

Dah puas going over the budget buying unnecessary stuff at IKEA, we then headed to Amcorp Mall. Punya la ketinggalan zaman, I never knew there is a bookstore that sells updated books at a much, much cheaper price. If I din write my previous entry, I would never know the existence of that bookstore. I’ve been to Amcorp many times, but mainly for the flea market..now, I have another reason to go there hehehe. As what Sha mentioned, Book Xccess does sell books at a cheap price. Memula tak caye la gak she told me she bought 15 books for RM190. I went there not to look for novels but to look for parenting and pregnancy books which only costs me RM29.90 u knoww..I bought 2 books right away.

And yes Sha, if you’re reading this the pregnancy book that you mentioned to me mmg best. Thank you so much for recommending me of this book store, at least not all the time I have to pay a trip to MPH/Borders kan?

While I was paying the books, hubby messaged me that there is a consumer electronics fair something like dat la nearby the bookstore. So, merely I thought ok dis is gonna be boring, he’s gonna be surveying the ceiling fans and I’ll just wait outside. Tapi naluri hati ni..ewah tergerak nak masuk gak initially to look for my husband amongst the crowd but nun jauh at one corner I saw an Olympus booth. Mula la cam ahaaaaa camera! I took the flyer and continued walking. But then I saw one camera that really caught my eye and it was only RM1499..mcm wahey menarik ni..mcm kena patah balik ni. I found hubby, dragged him to the booth and surveyed the camera. Within 30min, the camera is mine! Hahaha..dah tak pk panjang dh..rembat terus! dpt voucher, dapat tripod, dapat SD card, memcm lagi la..it’s so worth the buy.  Sila la beli Olympus SP-59OUZ. :)

If u wanna see the spec, just go here. I dun really know how to explain it in words..face to face baru bes ckp pasal ni. http://www.olympusimage.com.my/products/compact/sp_series/sp590uz/spec/

I’m still in the learning stage to learn about my new toy. It’s a semi pro camera, meaning that I don’t need to buy external lens, there’s no need for me to rotate the lens to zoom in or out, it’s just the normal zoom like any other digicam but there are advanced features like any SLR cameras for you to upgrade yourself. Tang tu yg den masih nak blajar ni especially on the shutter. Seems like camera gempaq camni pon kalo amik gambar tetap blur huhu..I’ve asked another Olympus user and he said setting kat shutter tu kene ubah depending on scenario. Gitu la alkisahnya.

I wanted to upload a few pics that I took over the weekend tp mcm biasala laptop buat hal, kenot transfer pics huhu..it is a very user friendly camera except for the shutter part tu la. Those who are used to using digicam for many, many years it is very easy to navigate without looking at the manual. Mende yg advance sket yg terkial² gak hehe.  But overall, I am very, very satisfied with my purchase even though I din expect to buy a camera on that day. It wasn’t on the list hehe. No regrets. Credit card bill dtg, kita byr sajaaa..haha.

Coach beg? tunggu gaji ntah bulan ke berapa baru beli kut. Laptop nak antar service centre plak..kalo nasib sama mcm camera, jawapnya kena beli baru lagi..sighhhh.

The prove

•October 30, 2009 • 4 Comments

Haha just a quickie. Wanted to show you prove that I was an Enid Blyton fan. Was browsing thru FB..found dis pic of mine and my fren (1st crush’s lil sis btw..d one I told u in my previous entry) hehe during Hari Penyampaian Hadiah. We were standard 1 back then. I got 1st place, she got 2nd place. Reason for my attire was I took part in dancing as well..hehe menari lagu Lambada kut..tak ingat tajuk dia yg ada gelek² pinggang tu hehehe.

Comey tak saye? Comey kan hahaha perasan!

Me & books

•October 28, 2009 • 11 Comments

Kali ni tukar topic plak. Nak pokpek pasal buku cite. What books do you like to read during your childhood years and now?

As for me, when I was young I went to the kindergarten at the age of 3. Yup. 3 years old at Tadika Koperasi Minden, USM. Tadika yang sangat glemer coz majority sume anak² lecturer hehe. I like this tadika a lot coz it teaches you both English & BM at the same time. At that time it was considered gempaq la compared to now, nak blajar Mandarin, Arab, sume bole blasah kan? So, basically the first book series that got me glued was Ladybird Key Words Reading Scheme – Peter & Jane book with the famous sentence “Here is Peter. Here is Jane. Here is Pat the dog” haha.

There are 12 series in total with a grade of a, b, c. So, during the 3 years of preschool, my kindergarten mates and I were competing against each other on who will reach the highest level. I think I did manage to reach level 12. I can’t remember but I remembered how eager I was bringing the book back home and practice reading it with my mum coz esok nak baca depan teacher bole dapat star! haha. I would be soooooo happy when the teacher said “Ok, here’s your next book to read” pastu tgk grade dah naik from A to B to C..cam wah terer haha.

When I was in primary school, I became an Enid Blyton fan. My collection of books was exactly like the main picture above. I really followed every series of hers from The Famous Five, Malory Towers, St Clare’s and her other books. Moreover, the trend for my primary school was for those who got Top 3 position in class got to choose their own prize and it’s usually in the form of books. Masa kekecik aku ni scorer hehe slalue dpt no 1, so I got to grab the Enid Blyton book before anyone else does. Hik hik. Tapi dpt merasa peluang ni sampai darjah 4 je, pastu dah fly p UK.

Ahaa another book that I am into is Hardy Boys, the English and Malay version. That is the only Malay book that I read. I wasn’t into any Doraemon comic books ke Satria Baja Hitam apekejadah tu..nope, not a fan at all. Kalo layan cartoon pun sume cartoon English and Sesame Street huhu. Nancy Drew books gue tak kenan sgt, I guess I prefer boys compared to girls kut? Haha.

When I was in the UK, I became hooked with Roald Dahl’s book. Tau² jela org sana, dorang lebih menggalakkan the students to read books by their authors as it was incorporated in the school’s syllabus. Charlie & The Chocolate Factory was the first book of his that I read, then it went to the other books. I think my fav book is Matilda.  I hated all the drawings in his book though. Mcm cakar ayam huhu.

There are of coz other books that I like to read,  but somehow I’m more prone to be glued on authors that publishes book series. At least each time I have another book to buy, to borrow, to read. When puberty hits, I started to like The Babysitter’s Club and Sweet Valley series. I dunno kat Malaysia camne..tp kat UK there was a TV series for both The Babysitter’s Club and Sweet Valley High. Sangat suka tengok. Sangat suka dengan watak Jessica hehe.

When I came back to Malaysia, I started to abandon my books coz I had to focus on textbooks & buku rujukan Sasbadi huhu. Urghh the dreaded Malaysian education system, terus bikin gue hilang semangat membaca. Some more the books in Malaysia is DAMN EXPENSIVE. Library pon tak user frenly. Dulu masa kat UK, we were allowed to borrow 8 books per person. Ni public library ye..bukan school library. So imagine how heavenly it was for me to read from one book to the other for free. Huhu. Pastu bila balik Msia ada misi kena improve  my BM. Improve la sangat kan coz I got hooked to majalah Remaja haha. That was my reading material back then.

University level plak is the year that I officially became Sophie Kinsella and Dan Brown’s fan. There’s no introduction needed for Sophie kan..the Shopaholic series sape yg tak tau? and yes, the trend of having novels back to my shelf has started like the good old days. Sume buku beli. As for the serious side, ever since I read Da Vinci Code, I continued reading all of Dan Brown’s book and yes, sume buku beli tersimpan elok di rumah :) and now he has his new book : The Lost Symbol tp tak beli lagi coz it’s pricey.

RM99.90 ok! Aritu dah 2 kali pegang buku tu at The Borders & MPH tp akhirnya letak balik coz masa tu tgh pokai  hehe..guna alasan nak tunggu gaji. Skang gaji dah masuk, I think I will be buying it soon ;)

For me, I don’t mind if it’s in hardcover or soft copy as long as it’s by SK or DB I will buy it. I can’t be bothered to wait for the price to drop to RM35.90, if the price is RM69.90, RM99.90 so be it. Lantak. :)

Once in a while I will venture out from my comfort zone and read other author’s writings like The Time Traveller’s Wife coz I know it’s worth the read. Sesape yg tak baca lagi sileeeeeeeee la baca ye buku ni. I tried reading Cecelia Ahern’s book but sadly I only like P.S I Love You. Her other books doesn’t bring the same spark that SK does so I discontinued reading her books. Same goes to the author of Devil Wears Prada. Apa nama dia? Lauren Weisberger! Haa I din even finish reading that book, apetah lagi nak beli buku dia yang lain..

Senang cite..I’m a loyal reader. I stick to my favourite authors. They should be grateful they have a fan like me haha.

What about you? korang mcm aku jgk ke or main blasah je baca pape buku from any genre and authors?
