I have been anticipating Earth Hour since the campaign started..mmg sangat teruja. I have been waiting for years for our country to participate in such good cause that is related to the environment, towards planet Earth..uih dah bertahun2 lamanya. I was quite an environmentalist back then when I was in UK..bleh caye tak when I came back to Msia at a raw age of 12 eh 13..I even hated coming back here because of the vast development in our country huhu it was too much for me to endure. I also hated the construction of our own Twin Towers..huhu see how Western mindset can really change u? Anyways that’s not the point. The point here is I am SO proud that I have the chance to participate and also to witness other Malaysians and our famous landmarks throughout Malaysia unite to switch off their lights for one hour demi Earth Hour. *clap clap clap*
Anyways..I switched off the lights at my house at 8pm and left the house for KL right after dat coz I wanted to witness the lights switched off at the major landmarks in KL. At 8.27pm, we were at the traffic lights at Jalan Sultan Ismail just past Concorde Hotel and my eyes were zooming from right to left coz KL Tower was on my right, KLCC was on my left..dok pk mana satu landmark yg akan switch off dulu. 3 minutes before 8.30pm KL Tower switched off its lights. I was sooo excited hehe. And then about 5 minutes later, KLCC switched off its lights stage by stage. Excuse for the poor quality of photo..(terlebih excited amik gambo dari dlm kete lupa nak roll down the window ahaks)
3, 2, 1 lights off!
The initial plan was to just drive around KL and take pictures of the famous landmarks in KL that switched off its lights but it’s kinda hard especially for Mr Fiance to manouvere around the traffic and me poking my head out with the camera in hand. So I quickly asked Mr Fiance to find a place to park by the roadside. But somehow he took a wrong turn and we ended up in the KLCC parking lot huhu. Saboo je la. So, ape lagi..we parked and we headed straight outside. Puas ati gue.
Lights off at Menara Maxis
Buildings around the Golden Triangle area switched off its lights as well
terselit di celah² bangunan is KL Tower
Lights off at Public Bank
we found a nice place to sit right opposite the Twin Towers and waited for 30 minutes for 9.30pm. There were quite a small crowd anticipating the event just like we were, everyone armed with cameras and videocam. Sangat teruja tgk memasing teruja huhu. See the pictures below of the transformation from lights off to lights on!
KL Tower at 9.30pm
Public Bank at 9.30pm
and finally..KLCC! so worth the wait
we’ve done our part..have you done yours?
This is Mieza, reporting from KLCC, Malaysia on 28th March 2009
(walaupun gaya mcm iklan dalam majalah “saya dah hilang 10kg selepas minum Herbalife, lihatlah perubahanku! ramping kan?” haha)
I hope we all now have a bit of awareness on the conservation of Planet Earth. Tak kisah la padam lampu ke recycle ke ape ke, janji we know what we’re doing is for the benefit of the generations to come. Amin..
